I believe variety is what keeps life interesting, and I try to reflect that in my scheduled and unscheduled shows. I'm not afraid to put swing next to punk, especially if the songs share a tangential connection. I often connect songs by style, theme, or lyrical content, and sometimes hold a Guess the Theme Contest with upgrade prizes. Sometimes, entire shows have been centered on themes, but I'm just as likely to play whatever comes to mind.

While I have at least a thousand CDs' worth of songs, you will not find a great deal of commercially popular music therein. What gets me excited is not popularity, but a good melody, presented in a compelling way.

I have a tendency to champion bands and performers that I think have been unjustly overlooked or forgotten, and consider many of them my favorites. For instance:
