Talk:Meme

Removed some of the smaller memes as I do not want the meme pages to encourage trying to create memes just for "ego gratification." - Nicknam4
- That would mean that there should be no memes at all, right... that makes no sense. - Walkingonthesun
- (please sign your posts). I am with Nick here (we actually discussed this on the main site's beta testers club). Look at Post your club HERE!. It happened yesterday - apparently -, and according to the screenshot there were four posts that lasted for a few minutes. That is not anything near a meme. The hard thing is to determine where it is a noteworthy meme and when it becomes an inside joke of a few friends. This is what we discussed in the shoutbox and it is hard to get a right answer. Noone in the Beta testers club knew of the John meme either. If you look at the pic provided, it shows that it is from a friends activity ticker. If you have 10 friends that join, does that make it a meme? I seriously doubt it. This should be discussed on a per article basis, but overall I think we should not be too lenient. Also note that a disproportionally high amount of memes revolves around T/Vprod. I have nothing against them, but a meme should have something 'big'. The loren646 meme is still ocassionally referred to, so that seems a reason to have an article of it. Shout if you disagree :) --Pino 17:23, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, can we at least keep the page, but not have it in the memes page? Walkingonthesun 20:01, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Layout design
Rather than sorting them into major and minor memes, I have proposed a new page idea User:Offwo200/test2
- Mmmm, I am no particular fan of having some sort of countdown (ordered lists). It does make sense to list them from interesting to less interesting though, because right now you have to click on stuff like "i have an ant" which I have never seen. --Pino 15:08, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
