Sneaky

Sneaky is one of the bots a user can chose from in the game Minions and the game Minions on Ice. It has high damage capabilities and the ability to teleport. However, to counter this, Sneaky has a short range and hence is tricky to play. Sneaky also has high armor but fairly low health, making it vulnerable to Shouty's Missile and Basher's AP shells. Grenade may also come in handy when facing enemies with little armor.

A Sneaky is able to do a large amount of damage, but its major drawback is the inability to survive while doing so if it doesn't blink away, with its short range and moderate survivability.

An interesting thing about Blink is that, if timed correctly, Sneaky can avoid being hit by a missile from Shouty or a Stun Bolt from Stinger.

Strategies

Sneaky, in general, is a very fragile 'glass cannon'. It has the means to escape from enemies, but escaping only allows him to stay alive. He is unable to assist his team when he blinks away to save himself, often giving his team a disadvantage.

One of the greatest trademarks of Sneaky is that he is a very good tower killer. At higher levels, with fully upgraded skills, Sneaky can easily blink in and out to destroy enemy towers very quickly and steathily without anyone noticing it. This makes Sneaky an interesting Minion to play.

In addition, Sneaky's blink allows it to traverse large amounts of terrain to get to his destination faster. This maneuverability of Sneaky gives him much flexibility against many foes. To utilize this advantage, Sneaky players often attack the enemy from the sides or back, forcing disorientation and confusing, giving Sneaky much needed seconds to deal damage and escape without getting too damaged.

Early Game

In early game, Sneaky tends to be very weak with low health and low armor. His range does not do it justice as targeting a tower usually targets you back. Unless a Cutter or Splodge kindly takes the damage, it is advisable to target the opponent's mini-minions instead. This way, the tower will target your team's mini-minions, allowing them to take the damage of the tower.

At this level, it is unwise to engage the enemy, unless the situation calls for it. Blink should always be saved for defensive use to prevent death. It is crucial that one stays alive as long as possible, as for every second alive, experience is gained that allows the player to max out Sneaky's skills and improve your damage to make Sneaky stronger.

Be wary especially of Stinger and Shouty at this stage. Both of these Minions can easily defeat you. Stay with your team and do not wander away from someone who can take damage or assist you, like a Stinger or Cutter.

If you are seeking to help your team, be the first to enter the battle. When you hear a missile/sting aimed, immediately blink away, therefore wasting a sting/missile and soaking up some damage.

Mid Game

After about 15-20 levels into the game, and have at least taken down 2 of the opponent's tower, it might be better to play a little more offensively. At this stage, Blink should cool down fast enough for constant use whenever needed. Sneaky's Armour should also be upgraded at this point to provide protection against damage, which is necessary to stay in the fight a little longer due to Sneaky's poor health.

At this point of the game, as a Sneaky, you could attempt to go alone to weaken or destroy a tower, but be wary if your team requires Sneaky's presence. Do not be too ambitious as, even at level 15, it is not guaranteed that you will not be killed easily. Once again, Stingers, Shouties and teamwork can easily take a lone Sneaky down, so do not spend too much time alone.

Late Game

After maxing out Sneaky's skills and getting to around level 35 or above, it is finally time to be deadly. With a quick Blink cooldown, it is very very easy to destroy an opponent's tower. Pay attention to which opponent Minions are dead and which are on the map and where. By paying attention to these, it is possible to sneak in and out of their towers whilst doing damage.

Try to be the team leader for your team by co-ordinating combined attacks. These attacks strengthens Sneaky's survivability and makes you less likely to be the only target. Having teamwork allows a Sneaky to dish out high damage whilst getting hit less.

Blinking 101

There are many ways that Sneaky can utilize the skill Blink to his advantage, but mainly classified as an offensive or defensive Blink.

Offensive Blink

An offensive blink is when Sneaky uses blink to get closer to his target. This could mean to get closer to a tower or an escaping Minion. However, it is unwise to try this tactic without careful consideration of the opponent's team. A miscalculation can result in an unavoidable death.

Another option of offensive blinking is to blink just ahead of an enemy to block it off and prevent it from being able to escape. This is called "blink-blocking," and works best with teammates.

Offensive blinking is often used to get closer to towers from a distance or to flank the enemy team from the sides or behind to deal significant damage. It takes a lot of careful timing to make most of offensive blinking.

Defensive Blink

This is a easier skill to utilize. Defensive blinking means blinking away to avoid death. This has both its pros and cons. By being able to stay alive, Sneaky can gain experience and levels more consistently and is hence able to keep up with the levels of the opposing team. However, by blinking away from teammates in a large battle, they effectively are one man short.

This skill is best utilized in early and mid game to stay alive.

Another blink use is also a type of blink-blocking. It is when an enemy is pursuing a teammate, you could blink into your enemy's path, allowing your teammate to escape. If mastered, this skill is very useful, and it has saved many lives. Some pro blink-blockers are also known to blink-block a cut which is already attacking the teammate. This is very hard, since you have to blink into the exact place between the cut and the teammate.

Sneaky Tricks

  • If timed well, blink can be used to avoid Shouty's missiles and Stinger's stun bolts, in addition to normal shots.
  • It is possible to blink over walls and towers, if the blink range allows it. If not, Sneaky will be stopped by the wall or tower.
  • It is possible to "blink-block", or blink in between a retreating minion and its path.
