Gifts are small icons depicting a present given by one player to the other. All gifts received are shown on the receiver's profile page, including sender and a short text. They can also be shown by setting them as a Forum Icon. Gifts are not free; they have to be bought at the Casual Collective's store for varying amounts of Casual Credits.

Although in the beginning only sixteen gifts were available, later on Game Icons were added too. They are similar in use, but feature different pictures. Normal gifts are related to gifting in real life (such as flowers, candy and beverages. The Game Icons relate to Casual Collective games, but are currently limited to the Minions game's characters.

There are also a number of gifts that are gained for different reasons: Founding member, beta tester, met Grritters, Site admin and Radio DJ. These can not be bought, but have to be earned. More on this can be found on the Forum Icon page.

Game Icons

Game Icons are items available for purchase in the Casual Collective store. They are pictures from games on the CC. Currently there is only Blue (75 Casual Credits each) and gold (1000 Credits each) Minions Icons, representing each of the eight Minions. These can be either gifted or bought for oneself. These icons are shown as gifts on player's profiles and can act as a Forum Icon.

The gold icons are notorious for their high price (about 10 dollars for 56x56 pixels) and have been called Veblen goods by Critters, meaning that they are valuable because they cost a lot.

The following grid shows all sixteen icons. The gold ones are slightly different than the blue ones, not only in coloring but also in positioning.

Trivia

  • For several weeks after the Christmas gifts are removed from the store, it is still possible to buy these gifts by editing the item ID in the store.
  • It is also possible to use in-line css styles to change the font and color of the gift message.
  • Finally, it is possible to gift oneself.
