Dash

Dash is a character in Minions on Ice and Minions. It is a medium-to-high damage minion that can easily sneak into and away from battle while quickly regaining its health.

Because of its blur ability, which allows for invisibility and mobility, a high-level dash is often difficult to kill. However, with a stun, mortar, and missile, enemy units can take away a large part of Dash's health. Dash has an advantage against low armour/low health units such as Basher and Stinger, but it can be heavily damaged or destroyed by heavy armour/high health units such as Splodge and Cutter, as it can not do sufficient damage to significantly weaken or destroy these minions. Due to its fragility, Dash cannot take all units one on one, but instead functions better doing large amounts of damage with it's frenzy, then blurring to safety before it is attacked.

The dash is available only to players with the Minions Bonus Pack in normal minion selection games. In random and mirror games, however, everyone has a chance of being assigned Dash. In Minions on Ice it is second to last minion to unlock and it has blur as its fixed skill.

Strategy Guide

One of the most effective strategies when using the dash unit is the hit & run strategy. While it is probably the most effective strategy, it is often hard to survive using this strategy, especially for less skilled players, or players who don't play Dash often. When using the hit & run tactic, here's the basic gist of what you do.

  • Find a unit you wish to attack
  • Make sure that unit is one that you will be able to kill alone, or has low health already
    • Start attacking the unit with your frenzy ability activated
      • Use your blur move and escape when you...
        • Kill the unit
        • Have low health
        • Are getting too far into enemy territory

One of the things a good player does with the Dash unit is plenty of soloing. Soloing towers and enemy units is an essential if you want to do well with this unit. One of the things you always need to consider though, is staying alive. Dash has very low health, and if you die too often, you will get outleveled by the opponents, and will only get killed even quicker. That's why if you play as Dash, it is ESSENTIAL that you stay alive. Although only the best players can survive a whole game without dying, most players should only die once or twice when they are good enough.

Once you're level 28 or so, and have all level 10 abilities, both teams will probably only have one or two towers left. This is when you can start soloing a lot. It is very easy to sneak behind enemy lines using Blur, where you can then pick off the enemies with low health running from battle. Also, it is really easy to sneak up to a tower, use Frenzy to deal a lot of damage, and then Blur out. By the time all the enemy towers are destroyed, Dash is always the best unit to sneak into the base too. If your team is being held back by the enemy, a good dash could roll in on the flank, Frenzy the tower, then blur out before the enemy even has a chance to do anything. Also, it is usually easy to sneak by enemies and kill the base if there is nobody defending.

Blur strategy

One question people ask with pretty much every unit is "What ability upgrade path should I follow?" With Dash, since staying alive is a top priority, especially early in when you need to gain levels, and later when you need to avoid minute long spawns, I usually find it best to upgrade my Blur ability first. Although you will have very low DPS upgrading Blur first, you will be able to stay alive easier, so it pays off in the long run. A lot of players think they should upgrade Frenzy first. Well this is a good idea in some games, it is usually a very bad idea. This is because if you upgrade Frenzy first, if you get ambushed or stunned, you will not survive long enough to escape a battle. Since experience is determined by how long you are attacking something, and not by how much damage you do, it really does not give you much advantage in early game to upgrade Frenzy, except for heightened DPS in battle.

After you are level 10 and have level 10 blur, you will be able to escape most, if not all, dangerous situations, and with a low cooldown you can get straight back into battle. From here, you have more of a choice in what you upgrade. Whereas most people would upgrade Frenzy to 10 right away and leave nanobots at level 1, this is also not always a good idea. Nanobots increase your healing rate, so therefore they increase the amount of time you can stay in battle, thus increasing the experience you will gain. But, even knowing that, I will usually not upgrade nanobots first. In most situations, it is best for you and your team to alternate between upgrading Frenzy and Nanobots after you upgrade Blur.

Frenzy strategy

There are many different opinions as to what should be upgraded first though. Dash can do almost no damage until he has frenzy at a high level due to his low attack. A level ten frenzy can almost quadruple his attack. It is this extra shot of damage that makes dash so powerful. You should try to get your frenzy level up early in the game or you will not be able to do much damage and you will not be helping out your teammates in any way. You do not need a high level blur to stay alive, you just need to know when to use it.

I am not saying you should max out frenzy first. This could probably get you killed early on. Once you can get your frenzy to about level 5 you should start upgrading your blur. At a level 5 frenzy you can still take out some of the weaker minions such as shouty, other dashes, or injured units. Upgrade your blur to level 5, then get frenzy to level 10. With a level ten frenzy you can deal a lot more damage. If you had only upgraded your blur without upgrading your frenzy, you would be useless to your team. Next you should max out blur. Always save nanobots for last because early in the game your health is so low that it wont make much of a difference anyway.

The 2/2/1 rule

A third strategy takes a middle-road approach: first get your blur up to level 4, increasing the duration to 4.2 seconds and decreasing the cool down to 17 seconds. Then, increase your frenzy up to 4, enabling you to do some more burst damage. After that point, follow the 2/2/1 pattern: 2 points into blur, 2 into frenzy, then 1 into nanobots.
