Attack of the Buggles, often abbreviated to AotB, is a single player game on the Casual Collective. The goal is to collect boxes using the mouse pointer to control the gray buggle, while avoiding the red buggles that move around the map to avoid death.
Attack of the Buggles is considered by many to be only a mini-game, since it is doesn't have such a high replayability factor as the other games do, due to the simplistic nature of the game. It is also notable for being the only game on CC to feature awards, and the only game to pay out Casual Credits, which would otherwise have to be purchased from the store or earned through offers/contests.
Gameplay
The player has to collect the 200 boxes that appear one at a time on screen using his grey buggle. The grey buggle is a replacement of the mouser pointer. Each time a box is hit with the grey buggle a new box will be revealed at a different place on the field. With every box picked however, a red buggle will materialize as well. These move across the screen in various speeds and directions. If the player hits one the game is over. Every box collected gives 1 to 10 points, depending on the time taken to pick it. Apart from getting less points when being slow, the grey buggle will also slowly grow bigger if it doesn't pick a box. It regains its original small size after picking up a box.
Every 20 boxes a green buggle will appear from the left hand side of the screen. When the grey buggle touches it, it goes into 'roar mode', meaning it will temporarily change into a big buggle that can eat the red ones. The roar lasts for about 3 seconds, with every red buggle eaten counting as a point, which makes the game easier after the roar. The last feature is a slow mode. With every buggle eaten a bar fills to a maximum of 20. When it has 10 or more points the player can left click to temporarily slow down the red buggles. The red buggles will move very slowly, allowing the grey buggle to maneuver easily. This slow mode costs 10 points of the bar.
Awards
Awards can be collected for Attack of the Buggles. These can give points, which gain levels, and CCs, which are used to buy items or upgrades. The awards also give a forum icon, which can be selected next to the user's forum posts.
Various users have reported there is a problem where awards are not registered. There is no known solution for this, apart from trying again.
Collect 25 boxes showing 1 point without using a Roar!
